I am Shekhar Hardikar...
I am associated with the IBDP program since the last 5 years. Right from the process of IB authorization of our school to reflecting on practices for IB; helps me reconstruct myself and also helps me work with my colleagues for professional development. I like to reinvent myself and challenge myself each time I discover my learning need, curve and path.
My journey to formal school as a teacher, teaching and learning has been rather late as compared to seasoned teachers. I began my work with a leading insurance company in India while also volunteering to work in hospitals and with special needs children. That gave me a different view of education system. I was privileged to be deputed to an educational NGO " Pratham" working for universalisation of primary education in India. It was this turn that helped me evolve myself, understanding issues and lives of under privileged, understanding roles of school, power of collaboration and cooperation amongst institutions, and most important "attempting to bring in a change"!
My journey started again! This time with schools.... at a new place and in a very different work environment.
Along with with my co-learners I wish to explore relationships in our understanding ,creating newer perspectives,in existing knowledge, bridging gaps of our understanding, linkages with current affairs , attempting to explore what constitutes knowledge, which IBO describes as "Theory of knowledge"
I will not be able to complete tasks assigned to me without recognizing potential in people around me and learning from them, while I look forward to share and sharpen skills with them. Reading and writing gives me pleasure, my lines on my blog: " welcome the world of black and white and add colours to your life" reflects the power of books - most of them are in black and white dealing with shades of grey of life...
I value your feedback- join me and take the conversation forward!
