Projects with Grade 5-6
Olympic
Our first Project and Exhibition that helped us reflect upon our success and failures. This project was for grades 5-6 and we started our academic year with this project. As PBL unit we were very ambitious project of 10 weeks. We started in 3rd Week of June 2012 and had our exhibition in last week of August 2012. This was multi disciplinary project with Language, Math, Science, and History integrated. being the first project students were very enthusiastic and entry event created due curiosity and eagerness to work. As we progressed, we realized that our research work took longer than our plan and we had two much of information, some that was not required!!! and at this point in time the project looked "goggled project". History, language and Math teams had worked along the lines of project and their work was in unison with project timeline.
Math group had created a timeline of Olympic stadium and recorded history of growth of these stadiums in size/ capacity/ participants - which correlated with their topics in math and this real life connection was meaningful for the students. In fact visit to the local cricket stadium under construction actually helped students visualize concepts related to shape, area, perimeter, size, capacity.
Significant Content:-
As we reflect upon this project, we learned following
1) We must follow time line
2) At no point in time project can become a "goggelable project"
3) We need to have clear rubrics for assessment, specially wherein student's performance and marking is at stake

Identity
This project emerged as teams were reflecting upon issues with students faking ids on Edmodo and other social networking sites and what initially seems as fun, was more for bullying and for harassment, was due to peer pressure or just to prove that students were technology savvy and could do/ create/ disturb others without getting notices, caught or getting affected.
